When hiring a tutor it is well worth taking some time(perhaps a quarter of the first hour) getting to know the person.
A bona fide tutor should not be embarrassed about providing any of the following when asked:
Most tutors will happily provide this information. So be wary of any who are reluctant to do so.
When lessons are being taught, it would be advisable for any parent/guardian to be within earshot of the proceedings.
